This was our very first clinic in Santa María de Jesús located at the base of the imposing Volcan Agua! After being invited by the municipality, we organized our first clinic. That sunny Sunday, we sterilized 16 animals: 3 cats and 13 dogs. We thank Dr. Dennys Marroquin for his ongoing support and his vet assistants for their professional assistants. Special thanks to our volunteers Abbey, Kyle, Mayo and Linda! We made a really efficient team and even had time to sit down for lunch - which was provided by the municipality!

Our 4th clinic in the lovely village of San Juan del Obispo! It has been a pleasure to continue to serve this grateful community and assist the many families that ordinarily would not have the way or resources to sterilize their own animals. We were able to spay and neuter 22 dogs & cats yesterday :) Thank you to The Maya Vet Expedition team as well as Dra Melissa, our fantastic volunteers and to everyone else who helped make this clinic happen. We are very grateful. Thank you! Our third successful clinic in the lovely village of San Juan del Obispo. The support and welcome from both the locals and the Muni have been enormous and it has been a pleasure to serve this grateful community and assist the many families that ordinarily would not have the way or resources to sterilize their animals. We were able to spay and neuter: 13 dogs (3 male, 10 female) and 3 cats (all female). After receiving lots of visitors, we now have 40 more dog & cat owners on the waiting list for our next clinic!! - so although we do intend to initiate work in other villages around Antigua, our clinics will also continue in San Juan. This clinic was achieved with the guidance & support of Maya Vet Expedition Guatemala, the wonderful supporting vets; Ana Lucia Barrios, Argelia Ruiz y Pilar Monterroso from the Veterinary faculty of EPS, Guatemala and in collaboration with Antigua Street Dogs and their fabulous volunteers ;) Much gratitude to the Mayor of the village for supporting the clinics and for kindly giving us all a personally signed certificate to acknowledge the good work we are doing for their community. They would like to know when the next clinic will be! and we already have names on the list for the next one! Time to get fundraising again! FIRST CLINIC!! the long awaited photos of our first clinic in one of the smaller villages that surrounds the city of Antigua, Guatemala. We were a team of 9 with 4 medical professionals. That day we treated 13 dogs and cats and obtained a long list of other owners wishing to bring their pets to the next clinic! It was an intense and tiring day - but all went really well and we are grateful for the warm welcome and support we received from the village leaders as well as the locals. Special thanks to Dr. Marroquin and the Maya Vet team, to the generous people that gave donations, to the Municipalidad of San Juan for letting us use one of their rooms, to Eduardo Montepeque for capturing images of the day and to Silvia for sustaining us with banana cake! |
